My wife is my hero!!!

Dusty Cox-Medina

In the early days of the COVID 19 outbreak, my wife, Dusty Cox-Medina, went right to work making masks, which started out for just nursing home staff. She was one of the first local residents making and donating these masks and she was featured in the McDonough Co Voice for her efforts.

Thanks to friends and family who assisted her by donating elastic to her cause, to date, she has now made over 650 masks for local nursing homes, residential care centers, foster care homes, law enforcement, ER staff, local businesses, and the general public. She has begun sending them out across the state (and even out of state), free of charge to those who are needing them.

She would be making even more, but she herself is disabled, and so she has had to take a few days off due to ongoing medical issues of her own.

My wife is a former nurse, and her heart is so big. Day in and day out, despite being in severe pain, she forces herself to make as many masks as the pain will allow for that day. Then she wakes up and powers through again. She continually amazes me with her drive to help the community stay safe and healthy in this trying time. She truly is my hero.
