Dan MacDonald, singer-songwriter behind Spitzer Space Telescope

The Western Illinois Museum welcomes musical artist Dan MacDonald, who performs as Spitzer Space Telescope on Friday, June 16th at 7:00 pm.  The Chicago-based visual artist and folk singer will visit Our Front Porch to share his original music and the origins that inspire his songwriting and other artistic projects. The doors and bar open at 6:30 pm with music beginning at 7:00 pm. There is a suggested $5 donation at the door. 

With a deep knowledge of folk music, Dan MacDonald is not content with just sharing his technical skill. His performances draw on music from different cultures and historical periods that are thoughtfully intertwined with pop culture references. He is known for considering every detail for his stage presentation, which often includes historical clothing and other visual embellishments.  Reviews of his tours comment that he is reinventing how we experience music. This is also true of his recently released collection titled, Colonies in the Wild Frontier. It is a downloadable App that includes music alongside videos, lyrics, visuals, and performances with other artists. MacDonald calls the release “a whole little world of music and art that you can carry in your pocket. The one-hour performance at the Museum is a chance to experience the thoughtful and dynamic music of the Spitzer Space Telescope, and just might change the way you listen to music.
