Annual Meeting of Members

Join us for our Annual Meeting of members followed by a potluck on Thursday, February 14th. It’s Valentine’s Day and we love our members! Yes, there will be chocolate –did you really need to ask!

The agenda for the 4:30 pm meeting includes information about what’s being planned for 2019, including new and returning programs, new volunteer opportunities, and exhibits. We’ll give you an update on the museum taking ownership of the property and other capital improvements we are considering.

Following the meeting, join us for a Valentines edition potluck with the warm company of our museum members. We’ll have lots of chocolate and a special look at artifacts in the collection that tell the story of love!

Our members are asked to approve our board of directors and officers. An email ballot will be sent to members who are not able to attend the meeting.  Our bylaws also state, “Other nominations for directors may be made from the floor at the meeting by any member of the Western Illinois Museum. The candidates receiving a majority of votes cast shall be elected.” We welcome other interested candidates for the board.

The museum’s bylaws describe an Advisory Council as:

ADVISORY COUNCIL

Any individual the Board of Directors determine who would make a significant contribution to the museum may be elected to the advisory council for a one-year term. The Board of Directors Nominating Committee may also nominate advisory members. Advisory members shall advise the Board of Directors and Museum staff on matters concerning the operation of the Museum. The Advisory members are not a policy-making body. There are no restrictions on the number of members on the Advisory Council or the number of one year terms an individual can serve.

These members do not need member approval. If you are interested in being part of the Advisory Council, please contact President Jeff Kellogg. The museum’s current advisors are as follows and we’d like to acknowledge them for all their time and insight that they offer to the museum.
