The Story is Not Over: A Dream for the LGBTQ+ Community

The Story is Not Over: A Dream for the LGBTQ+ Community is about the LGBT history in Illinois, mostly from the west central region of the state from the late 60s to the present day. In this podcast, Noah Hundley conducted the interviews and created the podcast. He speaks with Joyce and Bayne Sims, Crystal Skipworth, and Kathryn Pohlpeter.

About Noah Hundley
I am 16 years old and am a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I attend Macomb High School which is located in west central Illinois. I enjoy learning about history, drawing, poetry, and many other things.

Originally when we started this project, it was pride month. This is one of the reasons why I decided to focus on my community’s history. I also wanted to do this because of all the recent misconceptions about the community. Currently, there are a lot of anti-LGBTQ+ laws and bills being passed. Many people, including myself, worry that many of our protections are going to be taken away. I feel like it is important to look back to see how far we have come so that we don’t lose hope.
