Victorian Tree Decorations

December 12, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

The Western Illinois Museum welcomes two local historic interpreters, Estelle Bath and Nancy Chu, to give online workshops on creating Victorian Tree Decorations.  You’ll find them on Our Front Porch through the Museum’s YouTube channel on Saturdays, December 5th and 12th at 9:30 am.  They will guide you through making five Victorian style decorations for your tree. The workshop is best suited for children age six and above with adult supervision.

Like the Victorians, the December 5th workshop will use everyday materials that can be repurposed for making a tree festive.  The December 12th workshop expands the materials to include other items found around the house like cinnamon sticks, candy, and even evergreen boughs. Prepared packets of materials for the workshop are available for pick up at the Museum.

To request materials and get the link to join the workshops,  visit https://wimuseum.networkforgood.com/events/25377-victorian-tree-decorations. There is a suggested $5 donation to cover the cost of the workshop.

This series is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.

Dates are subject to change; information about any changes and cancellations can be found on the museum’s website www. wimuseum.org. The Western Illinois Museum is located at 201 South Lafayette Street, one block south of Macomb’s Courthouse Square. Free parking is available.  For more information, contact the museum at 309.837.2750, text 309.837.2613, or email info@wimuseum.org.
