The Rebellious Flapper

July 20, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The Rebellious Flapper at The Blind Swine

Nothing is more iconic of the 1920s than the flapper.  The 1920 silent comedy film, The Flapper, set in motion the fashion craze and was made famous by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby, a cautionary tale about the era.

The Blind Swine Speakeasy is the perfect place for a flapper to let loose, challenge social norms and even “cut a rug.”  Guests can make their own fashion hair accessory and show off their rebellious nature that was the “bee’s knees” during the Prohibition era.  Make sure you stop by the photo booth to capture the fleeting moment.

Guests can view the museum’s collection of 1920s dresses and accessories as well as other items from the era. Enter the speakeasy through the museum’s “back door” located on the south side of the building, if you have the password.

Music will be provided by Mellow arc with Lukas Keil on guitar, Tiana Thaker on keys and vocals, Natalie Joy on cello, and Ben Clemmons on drums. Hy-Vee catering will provide the spirits –for a price.
