The Company We Keep: Past Residents and Personal Belonging
A talk by John Hallwas
On Sunday, June 24th at 1:30 pm to conclude this year’s Heritage Days celebration, the museum welcomes Dr. Hallwas to “Our Front Porch,” the museum’s exhibit space where guests, like the generations before, learn about local history and culture. Dr. Hallwas, who has recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois State Historical Society for his efforts to build understanding and appreciation of history over the past four decades, will present, The Company We Keep: Past Residents and Personal Belonging. This thought-provoking topic, ideal for Heritage Days, illustrates how historical awareness and appreciation is key to creating a meaningful belonging in a community. See the 2018 Heritage Days program for more information about John Hallwas, his publications, and achievements.
No visit to “Our Front Porch” would be complete without a piece of pie and sweet tea, which will be served following the program. There is a suggested $5 donation at the door.
