Sunday on the Porch: A Celebration of What We’ve Accomplished

You’re Invited to Celebrate Our New Front Porch!

Join us for a Sunday afternoon of connection, community, and celebration on Sunday, November 10th from 1:30 to 4:00 pm at the Western Illinois Museum! The new and improved Our Front Porch was built with teamwork, creating a special place where history, culture, and community come together, just like a true front porch should. And like any good porch gathering, we’ll be serving a variety of delicious pies throughout the afternoon.

On Sunday, November 10th, from 1:30 to 4:00 pm, the Western Illinois Museum invites the community to celebrate its new “Our Front Porch,” now located in the Museum’s east building. Designed to bring people together in the welcoming spirit of a traditional front porch, the enhanced space will host an afternoon of storytelling, music, and dancing. And, like any good porch gathering, a variety of delicious pies will be served throughout the event.

What’s Happening:

• All afternoon: Enjoy a selection of pies!
• 1:30 pm: Start with storytelling as local author Ron Morrow reads from East End Angels, sharing memories of growing up on the east side of Macomb.
• 2:00 pm: We’ll give a few brief thank-yous to everyone who helped make this project possible.
• 2:15 – 3:00 pm: Soak in the sounds of live music as we relax and enjoy the autumn afternoon.
• 3:00 – 4:00 pm: Line dancing led by Jamie Lane and live music by her sons invites everyone to kick up their heels and celebrate our accomplishments.
