Quilter Millie Sorrells’ Garage Sale

Award-winning quilter Millie Sorrells will be having a garage sale to raise money for the renovation of the Western Illinois Museum.  The sale will be held at the Western Illinois Museum on Friday, June 18^th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Saturday, June 19^th from 9:00 am to noon.

Millie is downsizing and would like the stash of quilting supplies she has collected over the years to be available to other quilters, while the proceeds benefit the Western Illinois Museum. The sale will include quilting fabrics and yardage, irons, books, quilting tools, and clothing. Items are priced to sell. Cash and checks will be accepted.

As part of the sale, Millie will do a bed turning on Friday, June 18^th at 11:30 am and repeated on Saturday, June 19^th at 9:30 am to speak about the quilts she recently donated to the Western Illinois Museum. The quilts being donated have been selected from the over 200 quilts she has made and will represent Millie’s accomplished career. Her notes about the designs as well as ribbons the quilts received will also become part of the collection at the Museum. A life-long McDonough County resident, Millie’s quilts have won numerous awards across the country from the Bernina Machine Workmanship Award with her quilt Charisma that is now in the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky, to Cathedral Ceiling that won the Best Machine Workmanship Award at the American Quilter’s Society show in Knoxville, Tennessee.
