My Dear Patty
February 9, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
This year’s annual meeting will be held at a new time! We decided to start a new year of programing just for our members. Experience the insights of a local Civil War Lt. Colonel recorded in over 200 letters to his wife Patty. Letters selected by Jeff Kellogg will be read by interpreters at the meeting.
These thoughtful first-hand accounts record Van Vleck’s movements, thoughts, and emotions about the war. As a reluctant leader of the men from McDonough County who served with him in the Illinois 78th, his writings illustrate the transformative events that re-shaped the nation along with the hearts and minds of those who experienced the conflict first hand.
The program will be held at the Western Illinois Museum located at 201 South Lafayette Street, one block south of Macomb’s Courthouse Square.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and dessert will be served. Suggested $5 donation at the door.
