Grant Workshop in the Arts
The Western Illinois Museum is pleased to welcome Bucky Halker, the Executive Director for Company of Folk, who will conduct a workshop on the Master-Apprentice Fellowships (MAP) available through the Illinois Arts Council Agency (IACA) for FY2019. The workshop will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at 4:30 pm at the Western Illinois Museum located at 201 S. Lafayette Street in downtown Macomb, Illinois. There is no fee or registration required to attend.
During the workshop, Halker will review the grant guidelines and application process, as well as offer information on other funding options available for Illinois resident artists through the IACA. These fellowships provide financial support to a “master artist” to train an apprentice in order to preserve traditional folk and ethnic art forms in Illinois.
Master Artist in a folk or traditional art genre, includes ethnic arts such as dance, painting, clothing, pottery, and music. The workshop will provide an opportunity to learn how to qualify and apply for this award. The aim of the award is to help pass along knowledge to an apprentice and ensure that these art forms will continue to thrive with another generation.
