Crafternoon
October 20, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Western Illinois Museum, in collaboration with No Place Like Macomb, will host Sunday Crafternoon on the third Sunday of each month from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Crafternoon is an opportunity for makers of all ages and levels to create in the company of others. Bring a craft from home or start something new using supplies from our community craft box. Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be available. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Crafting has historically been a social activity, whether through a formal apprenticeship, a social event like a quilting bee, or the passing down of a skill from parent to child. The purpose of Crafternoon is to create a welcoming, non-competitive, and non-judgmental space for people of all ages and backgrounds to feel a sense of belonging and connection. Participants may choose to engage in conversation with others or find a quiet spot to sit and work. We ask that participants bring only craft projects that are non-toxic and friend-friendly.
This program is funded, in part, by grants from the Illinois Arts Council and the Illinois Humanities Council.
