See Signature Quilted at the Good Hope Sodbuster Days

June 3, 2023 @ 7:00 am - 10:00 am

The Western Illinois Museum invites you to view a recently acquired signature quilted at the Good Hope Sodbuster Days. The quilt will be on view at the Good Hope United Methods Church located at 300 West Main Street in Good Hope, Illinois, on Saturday, June 3rd from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. The building is handicapped accessible.

This red and white, sunshine and shadows pattern, signature quilt, is believed to have been created around 1910. Stitched in the center of the quilt is “Rev L.D. Lasswell, Good Hope, IL.” and is surrounded by many names in each block of the quilt. The quilt has been donated to the Western Illinois Museum and they are looking for information about the quilt including the people and families of the names stitched on the quilt. The public is invited to view the quilt and share what history they know to ensure the quilt will tell the story of families in the region.

The Western Illinois Museum is located at 201 South Lafayette Street, one block south of Macomb’s Courthouse Square. For more information visit our website at www.wimuseum.org or contact the Western Illinois Museum by phone at 309.837.2750, email at info@wimuseum.org, or text at 309.837.2613.
