Thriving Artist Workshop with Ximena Barreto
July 21 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Working in collaboration, the Gazebo Arts Festival, Macomb Creative Collab, and the Western Illinois Museum are excited to announce The Thriving Artist Workshop Series. This series aims to help artists and creatives in the Western Illinois region develop essential business skills related to their art. These workshops are part of the monthly Crafternoon event, held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on the third Sunday of each month at the Western Illinois Museum. Attendees can participate in both the workshop and Crafternoon or choose to attend just one of the programs.
The first workshop in the series will teach participants how to take captivating photographs of their artwork or handcrafted products using just a phone, a tripod, and other common household items. This hour-long session will be led by Ximena Barreto, a freelance photographer and graphic designer with over 30 years of experience. Ximena has worked with clients in Lima, Peru, including restaurants, jewelers, and product designers, and she enjoys all aspects of photography, from art direction to post-production. To see some of her work, visit her photo products and food products on Facebook, or check out her website.
There is a suggested $5 donation at the door to compensate the workshop presenter, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
Future workshops are currently being scheduled. If you have an idea for a workshop, please reach out to us at hello@macombcreativecollab.com.
This program is funded, in part, by grants from the Illinois Arts Council and the Illinois Humanities Council.
The Western Illinois Museum is located at 201 S. Lafayette Street, one block south of Macomb’s Courthouse Square. For further information, call 309-837-2750, text 309-837-2613, or email info@wimuseum.org.
